Course Director

John’s nickname is JAWS and is very appropriate given his background and standing in the dive community; he is definitely at the top of the “food chain” when it comes to diving.

John’s career in diving began in 1984 when he became a certified open water diver. 1990 saw John become a PADI Open Water Instructor and in 1994, John became a PADI Course Director.

John’s favourite dive destination is Bloody Bay Wall in Little Cayman. His most exhilarating dive was experienced at Taputa Pas in Tahiti. When diving recreationally, John’s enjoys underwater photography.

John is sought after for his expertise at many dive organizations in Canada and abroad but here at Dive Force Scuba, he fills the roll as our Course Director. John is always available to assist with any or all our questions with regards to training standards.

Certified Master Scuba Diver Trainer

I have a real connection to this area as I grew up in Prince Edward County where I attended school, worked on farms and spent as much free time as possible at the beach or in the water.

I was always attracted to the Jacques Cousteau specials on television and hoping I could get a job like that someday. As kids my brother and I would spend hours snorkeling, collecting lost fishing lures from the lake bottoms. We had the best stocked tackle boxes of anyone I knew.

My first Scuba dive was in the early 1990’s in Acapulco Mexico, what an experience, I was hooked. In 2009, I was able to follow my underwater passion, receiving my certification as an Open Water Diver.

This was not enough for me and I continued training to became a Certified Master Scuba Diver Trainer. I am still enjoying the continuing education of specialty courses for recreational scuba Diving. I enjoy diving here in Ontario and have had the opportunity to dive in various Countries throughout the Caribbean and, also Australia.

Certified Master Scuba Diver Trainer

My first scuba experience was in a pool in Pontefract, England where my dad used to do dive training.  For my 16^th birthday I received OW lessons and became certified in 1994.  For the next 20 years I would randomly dive when I travelled.

In 2014 I went to Utila, Honduras with the hope of getting to snorkel with the whale sharks.  As there had been no sightings for quite a while I decided that I would use my time there to do a refresher course and then get Advanced Open Water certified.  Once again I was hooked.  In 2016, I decided to become a Rescue Diver, which lead to signing up to become a Dive Master, and then an Open Water Scuba Instructor.  Over the summer of 2017, I taught scuba diving in the Dominican Republic and became a Master Scuba Diver Trainer.  It was fate that Dave was opening a shop in Trenton just as I was returning back home!

My most memorable scuba dives would have to be 1. Diving between the continental plates in Silfra, Iceland (I have never been in such clear water, I felt like I was flying), 2. having dolphins join us on a Manta night dive in Kona, Hawaii, and 3. Becoming “Pelagic Magic” certified in Kona, Hawaii.  All three were truly amazing.

Dive Master In Training

As a Divemaster in training soon to be a Certified Dive Master working with students and the staff has been a very rewarding experience.

I’ve been with Dive Force Scuba since Dave and Nancy decided to open enjoying it more each day. After a long hiatus from diving I decided to jump back in after a trip to Roatan Honduras my passion quickly came back.

I enjoy passing on my passion for the sport as I have to my two sons who I can never pass up the opportunity to dive with.

I very much look forward to meeting new divers young and old to share stories and to build new diving adventures.

Dive Master

Growing up my summers were spent on a lake north of Kingston in the water snorkeling everywhere. No matter how long I could hold my breath there was always something more I wanted to see and explore and it frustrated me that I was always limited. I would watch underwater documentaries and see divers exploring the underwater world, wishing that I was underwater with them.

I made it a goal to get the training to become a diver and finally time and circumstance has allowed me to fulfill that goal.  Learning to dive has let me experience a completely different part of the world that I could not fully appreciate before.

I’ve seen fish, plants and other creatures in their natural habitat, travelled interesting underwater geology, experienced the abundance of life on ocean reefs and last, but not least explored the history and beauty of the shipwrecks located in Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence.  Now with more than 200 dives logged I no longer feel the limitation that I felt growing up.

As a recently certified Dive Master, I am always happy to share my passion for the sport of scuba diving. One of the most rewarding experiences diving is watching students take their first breath underwater and the excitement that follows!  It is an honour seeing and helping our students progress through their training, and to be able to share their enjoyment and excitement through their experience!

I am proud to be part of the Dive Force Scuba team whose vast experiences and extensive knowledge compliments an emphasis on having fun and above all else safety.  They make it their mission to make your underwater journey the best that it can be.
